ABOUT ME

Biography

Lily Goldsmith is a sophomore from Baltimore, Maryland studying sociology and arts leadership at the University of Maryland. Her interests include activism, politics, writing, collage and other forms of design. While her artistic practices are often inspired by other art forms, such as music and film, they also continue to be largely informed by the dada, situationist, and surrealist art movements. After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in sociology and a minor in arts leadership, she intends to work in a non-profit arts administration setting, directing specific focus toward promoting strong community engagement among local cultural institutions.

As a College Park Arts Scholar, Lily aims to broaden her own understanding of what it means to be an “artist” in 2020 through research, experimentation, and consumption of the arts. She is very appreciative of the opportunities afforded by the program to directly interact with artists and administrations from a diverse array of creative career paths. In addition, Lily plans to become involved with the Arts Advisory Board in order to be a more active member of the College Park Scholars community. During the rest of her time at the University of Maryland, Lily intends to continue pursuing internship opportunities within which her background in sociology and the arts intersect.
